Squat Week!!!

It is the first week of 2017 and Fort Collins CrossFit will be ringing in the new year by working towards maxes in different squat variations every day this week! 

THE Functional Movement!

Want a heavier Deadlift?... How about a bigger Clean and Jerk?... Or just overall want to be more of a Badass??? It starts and ends with the SQUAT! There is a reason that almost any resistance training program worth while utilizes the squat, because it is effective! 

Why Squat?

The squat is one of the most vital, natural, and functional components of being a human. On the athletic front, the squat is the quintessential hip extension exercise, and hip extension is the foundation of all good human movement.
​
​Powerful and controlled hip extension is necessary and nearly sufficient for elite athleticism.
“Necessary” in that without powerful, controlled hip extension you are not functioning anywhere near your potential.
“Sufficient” in the sense that everyone with the capacity to explosively open the hip can also run, jump, and throw with impressive force.
